The Chopin Theatre

Some have used the term "L.A. riots" when referring to the direct aftermath of the acquittal of the officers who beat Rodney King. Others challenged that mainstream name for the explosive events and chose, instead, to call them rebellions, uprisings, or disturbances. Each name imagined a different story with different stakes. The L.A. uprisings became a flashpoint for conflicting perceptions of relationships between race, ethnicity, class, power, violence, and resistance.

Under the unrelenting gaze of concentration camp guards, two men become riveted by each other and the tender, terrified love that sparks between them.

Compelling, erotic, and even heartbreakingly witty, Bent focuses on Nazi persecution of queer-identified people, whose experiences have often been cast to the margins of Holocaust narratives. With this subtle, delicate, critically-acclaimed drama, The Other Theatre Company continues to explore the theme of its first season: Staging the Past, Acting in the Present.
